Couple of weeks ago we made an announcement about our new Roll-2-Roll^® Sensor product line ODC. We also announced the transition plan for existing customers using WPS to eventually transition to ODC. This caused some confusion and in this blog  we will address this.

We are often asked by our customers to let them know if we can sense or edge guide a certain material. This is how this usually goes:

We have a difficult to sense material. It is very porous, non-homogeneous, extremely translucent... Do you think your web edge sensor can see the material and guide the material?

And our answer typically is, yes we can.

Slitting a roll of printed labels or even monitoring the label printing process, you just might need a line or contrast sensing application for guiding.

In the last few blog posts we saw how Roll-2-Roll^® Sensor compares to common sensors, to vision systems and specifically to line scan camera based vision systems. We saw that the Roll-2-Roll^® Sensor system is an intelligent embedded sensor with vision capabilities.

It is more than a sensor, in fact it is a line scan camera. Roll-2-Roll^® Sensors are more than just a typical sensor, they are one-dimensional line scan camera with integrated lighting and optics.
